👍 Top Tip

Talk about little one play rather than joining in.
This is a great way to flood your little one with lots of new vocabulary, give them words for what their senses are experiencing and repeat common words. As grown ups we tend to rush in and show little ones how to play with specific toys, leading the way. Taking a back seat and allowing little ones to chose what to do, puts them in control and boosts their confidence. Give them words for what the toys look like, feel like, sound like and taste like. It's a bit like providing a sports commentary on your little ones play. You are commenting on everything they are doing and feeling. This lets the little ones know you are there, that they have your undivided attention and that you are watching what they are doing. All this will boost their speech development and their confidence.

⭐️ we gazed and discovered under Dandy's colourful canopy parachute
🌟 we explored Dandy's stunning light up resources
✨ we were transfixed by the laser show on the ceiling!
🪐 we sang 'Twinkle Twinkle' and signed along
🌟 we twinkled and shook our bells
☄️ we moved and swished to 'The Baby Okey Cokey'
✨ we had huge amounts of fun!
All in one class!

Dandy's 'Baby Rainbow' theme was a wonderful way to bring Dandy's Stage 1 summer term to an end. Bright colours, fabulous sounds, a wide variety of textures, different materials, some familiar toys and great friendships!

When our feelings get too much, it's easy for them to get messy and intertwined and then the combined weight gets too much to handle. But if you can take the time to unpick them, reflect on them and understand exactly what it is you're feeling, it's so much easier to process them and not let them overwhelm you.

I have found lots of inspiration like this at Spiffy. They do wonderful books, ideas, resources, quotes and games for all ages to help process and unpick emotions. Thoroughly recommend.
